We survived! Not only did we survive but we had an absolute blast. High School Musical: The Concert was amazing. This coming from an old lady like myself. Can you imagine what it must have been like for my 10 year old offspring. I can honestly say that I've never seen such pure joy in her face. At nearly $70 a ticket, I'm glad it was the happiest that she's ever been! Here's a small glimpse into what we saw last night...
Drew Seeley replaced Zac Effron and let me tell you, Drew is a little hottie pants. Much cuter then Zac in my opinion - but what do I know? Oh wait, I do know one thing - I'm probably old enough to be his mother
I was never a fan of Ashley Tisdale - she kind of bugged me to be honest. I've spent the last year explaining to The Girl that Sharpay is the villian of the show - you're not really supposed to like her. But The Girl begged to differ and hung poster after poster of Ashley in her room - just to annoy me. But I will say that after I saw her last night, she actually is kind of cute & seemed to have a less annoying personality then I originally assumed. So I'll apologize - Ashley, if you happen to be reading my blog, I'm sorry I thought you were a pain in the ass. You seem very nice and I can't wait to shell out $15 dollars of my hard earned money so that I can listen to your new CD over & over in the car on the way to school.
Vanessa Anne Hudgens or "Baby V" as she's called is stunning. Maybe I should start calling myself "Baby J" - and then maybe I'll sprout long black hair and suddenly weigh 110 lbs. - or maybe not. She giggled a lot and lip synced a little but overall, she was fun. Corbin Bleu is a little hottie pants too - but he really should have tried to make his lip syncing look real. I realize that it's impossible to sing whilst jump roping. I don't even have a problem with the fact that he wasn't really singing. But damn boy, at least try to make it look real.
And finally, there was Ryan. I think his name is Lucas something or other. But he's Ryan in HSM and Ryan he shall always be. I'm convinced that Ryan is gay - not that there's anything wrong with that. And not only am I convinced that he's gay - but he's like "super gay!" He was the emcee of the show and did a great job. But I'm telling you, his wardrobe cart must have been twice as big as any of the girls in the show and he was quite, how shall I say, flamboyant? But the kids loved him and his flamboyancy so that's all that counts, right? I think? Just as long as The Boy doesn't start donning hats and changing his clothes every 5 minutes, I shouldn't have anything to worry about.
I woke up this morning and felt like I had been run over by a freight train. I couldn't figure out why and then it dawned on me. The Girl & I were on the main floor and who knew that lawsuits and the threat of legal action disallowed us main floor dwellers from standing on the chairs like we did in the good old days. Can you imagine that they don't let you stand on the chairs during a concert anymore? Good god, what is the world coming to? Due to this travesty, The Girl was having a bit of trouble seeing during certain parts. And since I'm trying to ensure that diamond studded tiara is awaiting me in heaven as part of my Mother of the Year award, I held her during extended singing & dance productions throughout the course of the night. The Girl is 10 years old and weighs 85 lbs. 85lbs. of solid softball, basketball, soccer playing muscle. And she was camped in my arms and/or on my back for the better part of the evening. And just to make it even more fun, she was screaming in my ear.
If that doesn't make me eligible for that tiara, I don't know what will. But I will say that the look of absolute bliss on her face was worth every minute.
How fun, Jill! And The Girl will NEVER forget it.
Standing on seats? Oh yeah, I SO remember that. I will confess right here and now that I saw Milli Vanilli in concert and it was one of the best I've ever seen! SO FUN! We stood and danced on the seats the ENTIRE concert. THE GOOD OLD DAYS!

Amy! I saw Milli Vanilli too - and they were awesome. Of course that was before they had their Grammy's taken away and the one guy killed himself. The good old days, indeed! :-)

WTF? No standing on seats anymore? It isn't a concert if you don't stand on a seat, slip on some illegally-obtained alcoholic beverage, and end up whacking your head on the seat behind you...nearly ensuring yourself a trip to the Pine Knob first aid station! Really...it happened to this girl I know at a Bryan Adams concert, you see...not that I would ever do anything like that...uh...I was probably at home watching "The Love Boat" or something...
P.S. I think I have a crush on Corbin Bleu, the inept lip syncher. Don't tell anyone.

Sorry...one more thing: Zac Ephron looks EXACTLY like your former (?) Allstate Insurance agent John Ivkov. It's uncanny!
